Captain Favicon Documentation

Captain Favicon is a super-simple plugin that allows you to easily add a Favicon to your WordPress site.

You can install it in a number of ways:

  • By searching for the plugin in the Plugins section and installing through the WordPress Repository where it’s hosted.
  • By uploading the .zip file through the WordPress Dashboard under Plugins > Add New > Upload.
  • By uploading the directory manually by FTP into the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.

After installing the plugin you’ll need to activate it under the Plugins menu.


Settings

The Settings can be found under Settings > Captain Favicon and are extremely straight forward. You can upload a favicon using default WordPress Media Uploader, allowing you upload one from your computer or use one that already exists in your Media Library.


Frequently Asked Questions

What Size Should My Favicon Be?
Ideally it should be 16px x 16px. However, if you’d like to support retina-support, upload a 32px x 32px favicon.

How Can I Make a Favicon?
Using an Image Editor like Photoshop/GIMP or an online service like favicon.cc/.
